Ronnie Platt and Kansas Bring 50 Years of Rock Majesty to Irving

This Sunday, July 20th, the Pavilion at Toyota Music Factory will echo with the timeless anthems of Kansas as the legendary band celebrates its 50th anniversary tour, Another Fork in the Road. Leading the charge is frontman Ronnie Platt, whose soaring vocals and magnetic stage presence have become a defining force in Kansas’ modern era. Rockers 38 Special will share the stage.
Platt, who joined the band in 2014, has embraced the challenge of honoring Kansas’ rich legacy while injecting fresh energy into their live shows. “We take pride in reproducing the song as it was written,” Platt shared, “but we also bring it up to date, finding ways to make it a little better”. His dynamic performances of classics like Carry On Wayward Son and Dust in the Wind have earned him admiration from longtime fans and newcomers alike.

A Night of Nostalgia and New Energy
The Irving stop is part of a summer tour that pairs Kansas with Southern rock icons 38 Special, promising a double dose of classic rock firepower. Platt is especially excited about the Texas crowd, calling it “a very lively crowd… Texas crowds get enthusiastic and feed us with that energy”. Expect a setlist packed with hits spanning five decades, plus a few surprises that showcase the band’s evolution.

The Band Behind the Magic
Joining Platt on stage will be a powerhouse lineup including original guitarist Rich Williams, keyboardist Tom Brislin, violinist Joe Deninzon, and new bassist Dan McGowan. Though drummer Phil Ehart is recovering from a heart attack, the band continues to thrive with Eric Holmquist stepping in behind the kit.
